ACTIVITIES

· Promote with biennial regularity an international congress on the History of the Sugar,

  • · Promote the edition of the conferences of the congress and other texts of scientific interest of the area,
  • · Publish an history of the Sugar to the world-wide level that is the synthesis of the knowledge on the subject,
  • · To publish a database of bibliographical information, basic images and texts for the study of the subject. 

 

OBJECTIVES

 

The International Association of History and Civilization of the Sugar has for objective: 

 

  • 1. - To contribute for the study and used diffusion of the history of the sugar sugar cane and technologies to the international level.
  • 2. - To assure the interchange enter the dedicated historians to the subject, making possible the interchange and scientific debate between them, and to facilitate the mutual cooperation. 
  • 3. - To congregate and to distribute to the associates all information on the inquiry on the history of the sugar. 

 

AREAS of work and spreading

 

  • · The cultures - sugar cane (saccharum officinarum), sorgo (sorghum dochna variety saccharatum), sugar beet (beta vulgaris, saccharifera variety) with that the sugar is manufactured,
  • · Products (honey, molasses, brandy and rum, sugar, syrup maple, conserves, casquinha),
  • · The agricultural techniques and of industrial or artisan transformation,
  • · History of the culture and similar commerce of the sugar and products,
  • · Aspects correlated with the sugar, as the arquitectonics slavery and implications artistic.
